I consume a lot of media every day. Here it is!

Dark Night Rises
Saw this in IMAX and it was great! Loved the action, everything looked amazing. There were a few hokey moments but overall a fantastic third Batman film. The only part that really took me out of the movie was the American anthem part - totally ridiculous and unnecessary. I am sure it plays well there but it is so much less emotionally stirring here that it just took me right out of the movie.
Also Anne Hathaway was a better Catwoman than I thought she would be.

Kitchen NIghtmares.
Again, I prefer the less yell-y UK version but have just mainlined all of the last season of the US KN. I particularly like when arrogant owners get their loud comeuppance. Which is of course the reason everyone watches these shows.

Shark Tank
Other people are watching and enjoying The Newsroom or True Blood. I on the other hand am busily catching up with re-runs of Shark Tank on Hulu. I much prefer Dragons Den (and especially the UK Dragons Den) but this is a good substitute.
The US recession has added a layer of desperation to the show that is a little uncomfortable but I still love seeing great ideas get funded. And I REALLY love seeing terrible ideas get mocked!

Apocalypse Codex. Charles Stross
This was fantastic! Just about the best Laundry book so far. So many secrets revealed :) I think we are getting closer to CASE NIGHTMARE GREEN and I can’t wait (the 2 years till there is another Laundry book).
The only small thing I wish could change is more of the civil service, middle management, bureaucracy stuff. I know that most people don’t like that part of these books but I find it endlessly amusing. I have always been a sucker for a good PowerPoint joke.

Kings of Cool. Don Winslow.
This sequel to Savages just came out and is being reviewed all over the place. Maybe I have just ODd on Winslow but I didn’t love this. Or maybe I am just not loving anything right now? No… gotta be the first thing.

Saints Astray. Jaqueline Carey
I really really loved Santa Olivia - moving, surprising, fun and different from the usual stuff I read.
The sequel was not nearly as good. The focus here was on the private bodyguarding industry and how great Genetically Modified Humans are at it. I would have been much more interested in an understanding of how the plague/flu and American isolationism combined with genetic experimentation impacted the world. But hey, a love story is not totally bad.
It was ok.

So! I finished the Liaden series (all 12 books plus short stories and everything else). I didn’t love Saltation on second read but the rest were quite good (as they were the first time.

Working my way through the Liaden series still - I am on the last book Ghost Ship!

SYTYCD so9e05 Vegas!
This is usually one of my favourite episodes every season and this one was even better than usual. A great group of dancers, some surprises, some terrible injuries as usual. But the whole came together just so well this year.
I can’t wait to watch the Top 20 episode (it can be a little repetitive and tense but I LOVE the group dance).
